The previous Mega Millions jackpot win came with a bang as the prize, worth $1.128 billion, was the fifth-biggest in the history of the game and the biggest in the Garden State where it was won. Last night’s grand prize didn’t have an amount as impressive as that one, however it still made one lucky player a multimillionaire.

The jackpot on offer was $552 million and only one ticket managed to match all six winning numbers. The numbers drawn were 19, 37, 40, 63, 69, and the Mega Ball 17. The Megaplier was 3X. Besides the jackpot winner, 944,852 other players won prizes across all the other categories. You can check the results for the June 4 draw and find out if you matched any numbers. Two of these tickets were very close to winning the jackpot but only matched the five white balls without the Mega Ball. They each won the second-tier prize, worth $1 million, after purchasing the winning tickets in California and Maryland. 27 other tickets won the third-tier prize for matching four white balls and the Mega Ball.

The grand prize won last night is now the ninth-biggest in the history of the game. The Prairie State is no stranger to winning impressive jackpots as the largest Mega Millions prize ever won there was worth $1.337 billion. So far, the Mega Millions jackpot, or a share of it, went to Illinois 15 times.

The Illinois Lottery confirmed that the winning ticket was sold online. The winner will have one year to claim the prize. However, if they choose the cash lump sum payment, which is estimated at $260.2 million, they will need to claim their winnings within 60 days. Alternatively, they could choose the annuity option, meaning that they would get the amount of the jackpot in 30 annual installments. Unlike most state lotteries, the Illinois Lottery allows winners of prizes larger than $250,000 to remain anonymous.

The Mega Millions is now back at its base amount of $20 million. How many times do you think it will roll over before it is won again? You can get involved for a chance to win it on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11pm ET. Currently, the Powerball jackpot is also up for grabs, with an amount of $185 million. Powerball draws happen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. With both games, it means you have five chances every week to become a millionaire.
