The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday 16 June is worth around $46 million after it rolled over yet again last Friday. This means that you could buy lottery tickets for Mega Millions if the EuroMillions rollover jackpot eluded you. And if nobody wins Mega Millions on Tuesday, an even bigger rollover jackpot will be up for grabs this Friday 19 June!
It has to be said that winning the Mega Millions lottery is more difficult than winning EuroMillions. That’s because the Mega Millions player needs to correctly select five numbers from the range 1 to 56 and one number from the range 1 to 46 in order to win the jackpot. The odds of doing that are 1 in 175,711,536, which means that the odds of winning the EuroMillions jackpot (1 in 76,275,360) are considerably better.
Of course, if lottery players allowed the odds of winning to guide their decisions, everyone would play the Irish Lottery because it gives players a 1 in 8.1 million (that’s eight point one, not eighty-one!) chance of winning. But lottery players don’t usually do that, preferring instead to let their instincts guide them to the lottery game that appeals on a personal level.
