Two of the Three Winning Powerball Tickets Claim Prize
Wednesday August 14th 2013All eyes were on last week’s Powerball as the jackpot reached a colossal $448 million. Shortly after the draw, it was confirmed that three lucky tickets, one from Minnesota and the other two from New Jersey, successfully matched the Powerball numbers to share the jackpot. A week after the draw two of the three winning Powerball tickets have come forward and claimed their share of the Powerball jackpot, however there is still no sign of third winner.
The Minnesota winner, named as Paul White, came forward on Thursday August 8th 2013 to claim his share of the jackpot at a press conference held by Minnesota Lottery officials. Alongside his partner and some friends, White, a project engineer, spoke about his delight of hitting the jackpot and plans to purchase a new car, support various charities, help his parents and also buy his son a car. White becomes the 22nd Powerball jackpot winner from Minnesota and selected the cash option where he received $86 million (before taxes).
The second winning ticket purchased in New Jersey was named officially on Monday August 12th, 2013 as belonging to a group of 16 co-workers from Ocean County. After a few days of media speculation as to whether they were the winners the group, who are known as Oceans 16, came forward with their winning ticket to claim their share of the win. Six members of the group where affected when Superstorm Sandy hit in October 2012 and one member, Susan Nickel, spoke to reporters and said she plans on using the money to finish the repairs on her home caused by the storm. They opted for the cash payout which sees them win $86 million before taxes and each syndicate member will receive a check for $3,872,445.
With two of three tickets claimed lottery officials are now urging all players who purchased a ticket for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing from the Super Stop n Shop store on Summerfield Boulevard, South Brunswick, New Jersey to check their ticket(s) to see if they are the outstanding winner. The winning Powerball numbers from Wednesday August 7th, 2013 were 5, 25, 30, 58 and 59 with the Powerball number 32, so check your tickets now to see if you are the winner!
