Nothing is yet known about the identities of the winners, but we do know that their tickets, for the April 11th draw, were bought within 15 miles of each other. The Cash4Life ticket worth $1,000 a day for life was bought at Victor’s News & Magazines on 753 Liberty Ave in Brooklyn – only a 30 minute drive from BPRF on Linden Blvd in Elmont, where the other winning ticket worth $1,000 a week for life was purchased.

Under NY State Lottery regulations, the winners have up to one year to claim their prizes, before the winnings are absorbed back into the lottery for future prizes, or allocation to the State General Fund.

What Is Cash4Life?

Cash4Life began in New York and New Jersey on June 13th, 2014, and is now played in nine states across America. It is a multi-jurisdictional lottery, where the top two prizes are advertised as $1,000 a day for life and $1,000 a week for life. These prizes have a cash value of $7 million and $1 million respectively. When you play, you can choose whether, in the event of winning, you’d want to receive the annuity option (individual payments of $1,000 per week or month) or the cash value ($7 million or $1 million).

There are secondary prizes available, from $2 to $2,500 – with an option to double your winnings if you’re playing from New Jersey.

How Do You Play Cash4Life?

The game bears some resemblance to Lucky For Life, a multi-jurisdictional lottery played in 25 states and offering similar jackpots. Five numbered balls are selected from a pool of 60, and a Cash Ball is selected from a pool of four. Your objective is to match your predictions with the drawing; if you match all five main numbers and the Cash Ball, you win up to $1,000 per day for life, or a cash prize of $7 million. If you match all five main numbers, but don’t match the Cash Ball, you win up to $1,000 per week for life, or a cash prize of $1 million.

These top tier prizes are akin to jackpots; if more than one person matches all five numbers and the Cash Ball, the winners split the prize between them. If the number of jackpot winners exceeds a certain amount, the prize is automatically split between them as a lump sum.

There are also prizes for matching fewer numbers, starting at $2 for matching one main number and the Cash Ball. In New Jersey, Cash4Life tickets have the option to, for an extra $1, double your prize winnings (excluding the jackpots). There is an overall 1 in 7.8 chance of winning a prize with Cash4Life.

Cash4Life drawings take place every Monday and Thursday, at 9:00pm ET – the drawings are broadcast from the New Jersey Lottery Headquarters in Trenton, NJ. Find out more about Cash4Life, or read up on other multi-jurisdictional lotteries – could the next lucky win be yours?
