Single lottery ticket scoops $222m
Thursday April 7th 2011Another huge lottery jackpot has fallen – this time it’s the inter-state Powerball lottery. A single ticket matched all six numbers to win last night’s $222million top prize. According to lottery officials, the winning numbers appear on a ticket bought in the state of Indiana. So far, no one has come forward to claim the prize.
The winning numbers were 10, 18, 41, 55 and 56. The Powerball was 15. Outside of the jackpot winner, more than 1.6 million players also picked up prizes last night, ranging from $3 to $200,000.
There certainly seems to be some luck around in Indiana at the moment. Just a few days ago, during last Saturday’s Powerball draw, a player from Indianapolis matched five numbers and won $200,000. Organisers said the ticket was purchased at Circle K at 2106 North Capitol Ave.
Although a number of large jackpots have gone in recent weeks, including the $319million Mega Millions prize that was claimed by a group of IT workers at the end of last month, there are still plenty of chances to win on lotteries around the world.
This Friday, the next Mega Millions game will be held and the estimated jackpot currently stands at $44million. EuroMillions will also be drawn on Friday and players have a change to get their hands on €13million by deciding to buy lotto tickets online.
Thanks to last night’s win, the jackpot for this Saturday’s Powerball game has been reset back to $20million.
