A single mother from Idaho has finally come forward to claim a $190million prize after scooping half of the second largest lottery jackpot in American history. In a press conference, reporters were told Holly Lahti has chosen to only release her name and the state she’s from. The mother of two bought her ticket in the town of Post Falls, in north Idaho. Lottery organisers said they expected her to be “coming forward shortly”.

Ms Lahti, who according to news outlet KLXY works as a bank teller, went to buy lotto tickets from Ady’s Convenience and Car Wash. The firm’s manager, Brad Wilde, said she’ll do very well with the money.

He said: “She’s very sweet. Very down to earth. Just a really nice person. Good head on her shoulders.”

Ady’s will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Ms Lahti has not yet cashed in her ticket and is deciding whether to take the lump sum cash option, or receive her prize in annual instalments.

The other Mega Millions jackpot winner, Jim McCullar, a retiree from Washington state, came forward last week to claim his half of the $380million prize fund.
