Powerball Jackpot Won in Pennsylvania
Tuesday August 13th 2024A Powerball player from Pennsylvania landed a jackpot of $213.8 million on Monday night. The grand prize had a cash option of $106.4 million.
The winning numbers for August 12th were 9, 22, 57, 67 and 68, with a Powerball of 14. The Power Play multiplier was 3X. Across the 48 participating states and jurisdictions, there were a total of 346,940 winners.
Nobody matched all five main numbers without the Powerball, but somebody went one better to match the full line. It was revealed shortly afterwards that this ticket was purchased in Pennsylvania, making it the Keystone State’s first jackpot win since August 2022. The winning location was AJ's Pizza, 3565 Harts Run Road, Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County.
It may be some time before more information is known about the winner, as they have up to one year to claim their prize. Many players do not check their tickets immediately, while a lot of winners also like to get financial advice and let the news sink in before they come forward.
Mega Millions Hits $435 Million
While the Powerball jackpot will now reset at $20 million, Mega Millions is continuing to soar. The jackpot is now up to $435 million ahead of Tuesday’s draw.
There has not been a jackpot winner in Mega Millions since a player from Illinois banked $560 million back on June 4th. The only other time this year that all the numbers have been matched was on March 26th, when a New Jersey ticket holder won a gigantic $1.13 billion.
