Powerball Jackpot Hits $261 Million for Tonight’s Drawing

Wednesday January 28th 2015

Fans of Powerball are eyeing up a jackpot worth $261 million for tonight’s drawing after no players were able to grab the coveted top prize on Saturday 24th January. The winning numbers were 16, 19, 20, 29 and 33 with Powerball 10 and Power Play 2.

While the jackpot escaped ticket holders’ hands yet again, eight players matched all five main numbers drawn to win $1 million each, while two participants who matched five main numbers and the Power Play number each won $2 million. For a full breakdown of the prizes won in the last drawing, check out the Powerball Results page.

Powerball’s top prize has been rolling over since Saturday November 29th 2014, when Lisa Quam of Washington State picked up a $90 million windfall. Matching all the winning numbers drawn tonight would see you pick up more than three times the cash value of her prize (estimated $56.8 million), as if you opted for the lump sum you’d grab a cool $179.1 million. With that sort of money in the bank, you could escape the blizzards battering the East Coast and set off for the Caribbean. Imagine sipping drinks out of a coconut as you sit in your resort on St. Thomas and listen to news reports covering the latest town to be snowed under back home!
