Powerball jackpot creeps up
Monday January 10th 2011The jackpot for America’s Powerball lottery is continuing to increase following a number of rollovers. Saturday’s game produced three second prize winners, who managed to match all five main numbers, 6, 7, 26, 33 and 52. However, none of these managed to pick out the evening’s Powerball, 24, and scoop themselves the jackpot prize of $51million. Instead, the players will each win $200,000.
The next draw will take place on Wednesday, January 12 and the estimated jackpot currently stands at $67million. Although the prize fund is considerably less than the $380million Mega Millions jackpot which was finally split between two players last Tuesday, the Powerball top prize is sure to encourage plenty of people to buy lottery tickets in the hope of winning a life-changing amount of money.
Saturday also saw the Florida Lotto jackpot go unclaimed. As a result, the top prize for this Wednesday’s draw now stands at an estimated $15million.
