17th May 2013 – Two winners share US$190 million Mega Millions jackpot

While the winner from Farmville Virginia has yet to claim their prize, Giuseppe “Joe” Garofalo from Tinton Falls, New Jersey, has already come forward and opted to take the cash lump sum equating to US$73,279,052.

18th May 2013 – US$590.5 million won on Powerball by a single ticket

The winning ticket of the second largest jackpot ever won in the US was purchased in Zephyrhills, Florida by local resident, 84 year old widow and mother of four Gloria MacKenzie. She took the cash option, equating to US$370.8 million before tax. Read all about Gloria here.

25th May 2013 – US$50 million Powerball jackpot shared between three tickets.

Ticket holders from Delaware, Florida and Louisiana shared the jackpot, each winning US$10,377,750, but all three have yet to claim their prize.

29th May 2013 – US$40 million won on Powerball by a single ticket

This jackpot has been claimed by Paul McDowell of Ravenna, Texas who has opted to take the cash lump sum worth just under US$25 million. The farmer said he will buy “a few cows, a couple of tractors and a new car” with his newfound wealth. McDowell is the first Powerball jackpot winner to hail from Texas since the state entered the game in 2010.

31st May 2013 – US$30 million won on Mega Millions by a single ticket

While the winner of the jackpot has not yet claimed their prize, it is known that the winning ticket was purchased in Buena, New Jersey.
