When you purchase a Cash 5 ticket, a second Quick Cash ticket will also print, adding the excitement of instant win to the PA-exclusive game. Otherwise, Cash 5 remains the same player favorite as before, with draws held every night and an overall chance of winning a prize of about 1 in 10.5. The chance of winning the Quick Cash game is 1 in 4.71.

"The last time that the Pennsylvania Lottery made any changes to the Cash 5 game was in February of 2008, so it was due for a refresh," said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko. "We listened to our players and we heard what they wanted: more chances to win and higher jackpots."

The Lottery hopes that the higher ticket price will allow it to offer a larger starting jackpot that will roll to a higher level more frequently.

"Lottery games, like Cash 5 with Quick Cash, help us generate funds that pay for vital programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians every day," said Svitko. "These programs provide property tax and rent rebates, transportation, care services, prescription assistance, and local services including senior centers and meals."

Cash 5 is the Pennsylvania Lottery's longest-running draw game. It launched on April 23, 1992 as a weekly draw, with players choosing five numbers from 1 to 39 for the chance to win a rolling jackpot that started at $100,000. In 1998, Cash 5 made the jump to a nightly draw, and in February 2008, the game expanded from a 5/39 to a 5/43 matrix.
