One winner claims the final Super 7 jackpot
Tuesday September 22nd 2009The draw on Friday evening was the last for the Canadian Lottery game Super 7. This is now to be replaced by the new Lotto Max game of which we brought news to you back in August and one winner claims the final Super 7 jackpot of almost $24 million.
Because this Super 7 would no longer run after the draw on Friday, the Canadian Lottery had to make sure that all prize money was won. This in turn generated a lot of interest for the final Super 7 draw as people rushed to buy lottery tickets. The lottery jackpot for this game was originally estimated at $21 million, but due to the high volume of ticket sales the jackpot soared to $24 million.
The single winning ticket was purchased in Saskatchewan and this is a new record win for lottery tickets purchased here. The lucky winner of this Canadian Lottery Super 7 game, has not yet come forward to claim the $24 million lottery prize, but has a year to do so.
The Canadian Lottery had been running the $2 per play Super 7 game for 15 years and it has proved to be a very popular game amongst Canadian players. With ticket sales beginning on Saturday 19th September, you can now buy lottery tickets for the new $5 play Lotto Max game which is expected to hit jackpots of $50 million five times a year. The highest Super 7 jackpot was $37.8 million, which was hit back in 2002.
