The lucky ticket matched all six numbers in the March 8 drawing: white balls 7, 18, 38, 58 and 64, along with the gold Mega Ball 24.

The winning ticket was purchased from the subscription outlet at 1 Broadway Center in Schenectady, home to New York Lottery headquarters. This is the first time a NY ticket has hit the Mega Millions jackpot since September 2021.

Enthusiastic players drove the top prize higher than the predicted $126 million by the time of the drawing. The prize value is $128 million if paid out as an annuity or $85.8 million if the winner selects the cash lump sum.

461,580 players won other prizes in the draw, so make sure to check your tickets so see if you're due a payment. Nine winners matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to take home the $10,000 third prize on Tuesday night.

Three of those tickets are actually worth $30,000 each because they added the optional Megaplier add-on at the time of purchase. The extra costs $1 more for the chance to multiply any prize won by the Megaplier number drawn - on Tuesday it was 3X.

This is the second time the Mega Millions jackpot has been won this year; it's been rolling since a California ticket purchased from a Chevron station in Woodland Hills hit a $426 million prize on January 28.

This jackpot run's 11 drawings produced over 4.6 million winning tickets, including five $1 million second-tier prizes - one of those, sold in Connecticut, was worth $4 million due to the Megaplier add-on. Of the remaining Match 5 winning tickets, two were sold in Indiana and one each in New Jersey and Washington.

If you'd like to be the next Mega Millions winner, there's still time to get your tickets for tonight's draw. The jackpot has reset to its current $20 million starting level ($13.4 million cash value).
