New York Ticket Wins $94.8 Million Powerball Jackpot
Thursday September 17th 2020A New York Lottery player is waking up $94.8 million better off this morning, after a single ticket won the Powerball jackpot in Wednesday's draw.
It's the second night in a row that a major jackpot has gone off, after a single ticket in Wisconsin hit a $120 million Mega Millions win on Tuesday, the first time the game's grand prize has been won in the state.
The winning Powerball Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Minogue’s Beverage Center, Route 9 in Ballston Spa, near Saratoga Springs. It matched all six winning numbers in the September 16 draw: white balls 10, 17, 31, 51, 53 and the red Powerball 1. The Powerplay multiplier for non-jackpot wins was 2X.
The lucky New York winner will have the choice to receive the full prize value as an annuity paid over 29 years, or take the lump sum cash option of $75.7 million.
Another big winner last night was a ticket in Texas that hit the $1 million Match 5 second prize by matching all five main numbers. The prize value increased to $2 million because the player added Power Play for an extra $1, which doubles a Match 5 second tier win.
A total of 849,522 players won cash prizes last night, ranging from $4 up to the jackpot. Have you won big? Check your Powerball numbers and find out instantly.
Wednesday's win is the seventh time the top prize has been hit in 2020. The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on August 12, when a Florida player scored $168.5 million.
