New York Ticket Holder Wins Nine-Figure Mega Millions Prize
Wednesday November 5th 2014After 20 draws without a top-tier winner, the Mega Millions jackpot was finally won in last night’s draw when a ticket holder from New York snapped up the entire estimated jackpot of $321 million. This is the eighth-largest amount in the history of the interstate lottery game, which has been operating since 2002 and has expanded to sell tickets in over 40 U.S. states and territories.
The winning numbers for Tuesday, November 4th were 9, 15, 24, 39 and 41 with Mega Ball 1. The Megaplier was 4. In addition to the jackpot winner, five ticket holders matched five main numbers, with another New Yorker picking up $4 million for adding the Megaplier option to their ticket purchase. The remaining second-tier winners bought their tickets in California, New Jersey and Texas.
The cash option for this life-changing prize was set at $194.1 million. Even after federal, state and (possibly) local taxes, that’s still an incredible amount of money!
The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday, November 7th has now reset to the minimum value of $15 million ($9 million cash option). You can buy Mega Millions tickets from your local authorized lottery retailer or online in certain jurisdictions. Good luck!
