New York lottery players set for life
Wednesday January 12th 2011A couple from Lackawanna, New York, have won $100,000 a year for life, all thanks to a family tradition. As usual, Diane and David Kinsley were bought a New York lottery instant scratchcard for Christmas by their son Thomas. But this year the stocking filler present turned out to be more than a bit of fun.
Their $5 Money for Life scratchcard was a jackpot winner, and the Kinsleys will now receive $100,000 every year for the rest of their lives, with a guaranteed payout of $2million.
Mrs Kinsley’s reaction was “utter and complete shock” after finding out how much they had won.
She said: “I was the one that scratched the ticket on Christmas morning. When we realised we’d won all we could do was walk around the house in shock.”
The first thing the family purchased was the big television they’ve always wanted, but they told lottery officials they haven’t yet decided what they’ll spend the rest of the lottery money on.
