MegaMillions rises again

Thursday April 29th 2010

No one matched the winning numbers for the draw which took place on Tuesday 28th April which means the MegaMillions rises again. This also means that this US multi state lottery games has a massive $224 million jackpot up for grabs for the next draw on Friday 30th April. This has still not reached the recent high of its rival PowerBall, but it is still expected to generate just as much interest as we wait for lottery players in the US to rush into a ticket buying frenzy in a bid to win this staggering lottery jackpot.

MegaMillions currently holds the largest jackpot record when it reached a massive $390 million on 6th March 2007. This MegaMillions jackpot was split between two winning ticket holders. Although there is some way to go before this high is reached, expectations couldn’t be higher for this to happen as they are right now.

Since the agreement allowing US states to cross sell tickets for both PowerBall and MegaMillions, many more states have opted in allowing players to buy lottery tickets for both games. This could have one of two effects on the MegaMillions jackpots. It could be that the jackpot is won more often due to the increase in ticket sales which would mean the MegaMillions may not offer the large jackpots as frequently as it did. Or it may mean that the jackpot highs are reached much quicker and are sometimes higher.

Either way, if the lottery record were to be surpassed on this occasion, we would not have to see the MegaMillions roll over too many more times before it reaches the record high.
