MegaMatch 6 game is ending
Sunday December 6th 2009We have seen over the last few weeks many states taking up the option to cross sell both MegaMillions and PowerBall lottery tickets. This in turn, has left some states needing to streamline or review their lottery games. The South Carolina Lottery has recently announced that the MegaMatch 6 game is ending.
The last MegaMatch draw will take place on December 29th drawing, after a 2 year spell, generating more than $16 million in lottery prizes.
The fear for the South Carolina Lottery is that when it adds the MegaMillions to its lottery games that will be a degree of confusion if the MegaMatch 6 were to carry on.
Players can still buy lottery tickets for the MegaMatch 6 game up until 6.45pm on the day that the drawing takes place and will have 180 days in which to claim any lottery winnings. After the 180 day cut off, any unclaimed lottery prizes will go into the Education Lottery Account which supports educational initiatives within the state.
The South Carolina Lottery will then introduce the MegaMillions to its games in January 2010. It is widely expected that 2010 will see most lottery states taking up the option to cross sell tickets for both of the multi state lottery games which could well see a string of record jackpots from both the PowerBall and MegaMillions in the months that follow.
Lottery players in South Carolina will be able to purchase tickets for the MegaMillions in January and the 1st participating draw for the MegaMillions in South Carolina will be in February 2010.
