Mega Millions Jackpot Hits the $200 Million Mark

Wednesday March 14th 2012

Last night players in the American multi-state lottery that is the Mega Millions were hoping to match the numbers drawn to win the jackpot, however the results from this Tuesday night draw reveal that no players matched the five main numbers plus the Mega Ball to become top prize winners. This means that the Mega Millions jackpot has now hit the $200 million mark and this is bound to get players excited as the Mega Millions rarely reaches impressive amounts like the one currently on offer as it is normally won quite regularly.

This Mega Millions jackpot has rolled over a total of 14 times as it was last won on the 24th January when one winning ticket, which was bought in Georgia, matched the numbers drawn to win the Mega Millions jackpot that came out at $71 million. Since then the Mega Millions jackpot has remain elusive so many people are asking when will the Mega Millions top prize be won?

Having a jackpot that is estimated at $200 million is something of a rarity for this multi-state lottery and it is now estimated at three times more than the other multi-state lottery the Powerball, which is currently estimated at $50 million.

It will be interesting to see whether any players will match the Mega Millions results in Friday night’s draw to win the jackpot or whether it will carry on rolling over. However, if it does carry on rolling over then we might just see a new record set for the biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever won which currently stands at $390 million.
