Mega Millions Hits $1.1 Billion

The Mega Millions jackpot has been steadily rising since it was last won a couple of weeks before Christmas. Remarkably, there were two winning tickets - from the same Californian store - for that $395 million draw on December 8th.

Nobody has matched all the winning numbers for the last three months, although lots of players have come close. In the most recent draw, on Friday March 22nd, five ticket holders - from California, Florida, Illinois, Nebraska and Texas - pocketed $1 million after matching five of the six winning numbers. Another player, from Virginia, tripled their payout to $3 million as they had added the Megaplier option.

You can see all the results from the most recent draw, and other recent draws, by going to the Mega Millions Numbers page.

It is the sixth time that the Mega Millions jackpot has gone into 10 figures, and it is expected to grow even more quickly now until it is won, with new players and occasional players set to be attracted by the extraordinary figure.

The record for the largest win of all time currently stands at $1.602 billion, but this only dates back to last August. A single ticket from Florida - claimed by Saltines Holdings, LLC - won the lot.

Powerball Reaches $800 Million

Powerball has previously reached even greater heights than Mega Millions, having topped $2 billion back in November 2022. Edwin Castro, from Altadena in California, eventually landed the record $2.04 billion.

More recently, Powerball has paid out three jackpots in excess of $840 million in a row, and now it is back up to $800 million following a run of rollovers stretching back to New Year’s Day.

Powerball drawings take place three times a week - on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday - while Mega Millions is drawn every Tuesday and Friday. That gives you five chances a week to play for a colossal jackpot. Pick up your tickets now and then check the winning numbers as soon as they are available.
