Louisiana Man Wins $1 Million Mega Millions Prize
Wednesday December 19th 2018Vince Dorsey of Loreauville, LA is the lucky man who has won $1,000,000 in the December 4 Mega Millions drawing.
Dorsey’s winning ticket matched all five white balls but did not match the Mega Ball. The winning numbers in the December 4 draw were 28, 31, 41, 42, 50, and Mega Ball 4. The jackpot was $208,000,000.
Dorsey learned he had won on December 15, and just two days later he claimed his prize at Louisiana Lottery headquarters. As he arrived, Dorsey still couldn’t quite believe his luck. "It just doesn't seem real," he said. "Once I see the check, I'll be all right," he told staff as he nervously waited for his check to be printed.
Dorsey purchased his ticket at the Corner Grocery on North Main Street in Loreauville. He sometimes plays lottery games, but on the day he bought the winning ticket, he had other plans. “I had stopped to put diesel in my truck,” he said. The receipt for the fuel didn’t print, so Dorsey went into the store. On the spur of the moment, “I just told them to give me two Quick Picks.”
Dorsey’s lucky impulse buy netted him $710,000 after state and federal taxes were withheld. Dorsey said he will put his winnings into savings and his daughter’s college tuition.
