The new Monday timeslot will join the existing Wednesday and Saturday night Lotto Texas drawings, and all draws will be held at 10:12 PM CT. The cost to play remains $1, and prizes, odds of winning, and the Extra! add-on option will also stay the same. Tickets for the Monday drawing will go on sale on Sunday, August 22.

The new draw's start date, August 23, is doubly exciting for lottery players, since it's also the first-ever Monday Powerball drawing. Powerball's new third-weekly draw will take place in addition to its current Wednesday and Saturday night drawings.

The two new weekly draws will boost Monday evenings as a prime time to play the lottery in Texas, with the Lottery already offering a number of popular games as part of its as Monday Night Draw lineup, including Texas Two Step, Cash Five, All or Nothing, Pick 3, and Daily 4.

"As the Texas Lottery marks its 30th anniversary, we are thrilled to celebrate by adding a third weekly drawing to Lotto Texas, our longest-running in-state draw game," said Gary Grief, Executive Director of the Texas Lottery.

"Adding a Monday drawing will offer Lotto Texas players more chances to play for larger and faster-growing jackpots. This change, along with Powerball joining our Monday Night Draw schedule, will help the Texas Lottery generate additional revenue for public education in Texas."

Lotto Texas is offered exclusively in the Lone Star State and is nicknamed "The Texas Original" for its 28 years as a player favorite. It features a $5 million starting jackpot that keeps growing until it's won - the biggest rolling top prize in a state game. The overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 71.

To play, simply choose six numbers from 1 through 54. You can also add the Extra! option for $1 more to boost any wins below the jackpot by as much as $10,000. After the draw, check your numbers to see if you're a winner!

The Lotto Texas jackpot last went off on June 5, when a Longview player was the lucky recipient of a $5 million win.

The top prize currently stands at $8.8 million for the next draw on Saturday, July 31 - pick up your tickets here.
