Irish EuroMillions lottery winner claims £77m
Monday August 10th 2009After going into hiding, Delores McNamara finally braved the worlds media when she collected her prize 4 days after her win. The Irish EuroMillions lottery winner claims £77m/€115m which is Europe’s biggest ever jackpot win. Initially the Irish Lottery did not have enough money in reserve to pay out the fantastic win and had to transfer funds in order for Ms McNamara to claim her prize.
The mother of six from Limerick has fled her home and has been living in a Cork Hotel in a bid to escape the massive media attention after her Euromillions win. Her solicitor has appealed for privacy on behalf of the lottery winner in order for her to regain some sort of normality. Appearing at a press conference Ms McNamara was presented with a cheque for €115m and a bouquet of flowers and posed for cameras while drinking a glass on champagne but did not pass comment on her massive Euromillions win.
Via her solicitor, Ms McNamara described her lottery win as a big shock but says she is determined to get her feet back on the ground and for her family and friends to get back to normal as soon as possible.
To win the EuroMillions jackpot Ms McNamara had to match 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 lucky stars numbers from 1 to 9.
Two months after the game was launched came the previous biggest EuroMillion Jackpot winner from the UK who is Marion Richardson from Gatehead who scooped a massive £16.7m on 9th April 2009.
You can buy lottery tickets online for each and every Euromillions draw and if like Ms McNamara you wish to remain anonymous there is an option when you create your online Euromillions account to do so.
