Florida’s First Mega Millions Jackpot Winner Claims $207 Million Prize
Wednesday April 30th 2014One lucky couple stepped forward yesterday to claim Florida’s first Mega Millions jackpot since the state joined in the multi-state lottery less than a year ago. Raymond Moyer and Robyn Collier matched all five main numbers drawn, plus the Mega Ball, to win a share of the $414 million jackpot offered in the March 18 drawing.
The pair, both 35 and from Brevard County, received their prize money of $115,448,968 as a single lump sum.
Moyer and Collier’s winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at the Publix store on South Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island and matched the main numbers 11, 19, 24, 33 and 51 plus the Mega Ball 7. The retailer received a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The $414 million top prize is the largest Mega Millions jackpot seen so far this year and came as a result of 20 draws without a top tier winner. The jackpot was finally won on March 18 after alluding players for ten weeks. Moyer and Collier shared the $414 million jackpot with a second ticket holder from Maryland who has yet to come forward.
The lucky Marylander bought their ticket from Lady’s Liquors on Crain Highway, La Plata and while they have not yet stepped forward to claim their prize, the store’s owners have already received their $100,000 retailer bonus. Did you purchase a Mega Millions ticket from the store for the draw on March? If so, make sure you’ve checked your numbers thoroughly – you could be the next big winner!
