Florida lotto player waves goodbye to mortgage
Monday March 7th 2011A lottery player from Florida has said goodbye to any money worries after scooping $600,000 on the state’s Mega Money game. Maria De Jesus, of Colorado, came forward to collect her winnings on Friday, after hitting the jackpot by matching the four main numbers and the Megaball in the February 18 draw.
The 59-year-old said she always uses the birthdays of family members when she chooses her numbers, and plans to share some of her good fortune with them.
Ms De Jesus opted to take her winnings as a lump sum and walked away with a cheque for $420,150. She told lottery organisers the first thing she plans to do with the money is pay off her mortgage.
Lottery players will have another chance to get their hands on the Florida Lottery’s Mega Money jackpot tomorrow night. The jackpot stands at an estimated $1.7million after no one managed to match all five numbers in last Friday’s game.
Anyone who decides to buy lotto tickets and then wants to watch the Mega Money game drawn live can access a feed from the Florida Lottery's official website.
