Final countdown begins for California Lottery winner
Tuesday January 25th 2011A California Lottery player who won almost $200,000 in a draw last year has only a few days left in which to claim the prize. Lottery winners in the state have a total of 180 days from the time of their win to come forward, validate their ticket and officially register a claim. But organisers haven’t heard a peep from the player who decided to buy lotto tickets for the draw on August 3, 2010 at Lorena Market on Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles, and went on to win $197,117.
The five main numbers drawn during that night’s Mega Millions game were 4, 13, 20, 22 and 56. The player missed out on picking the Mega Ball, 32.
With time running out, officials are urging anyone who buys tickets from the Lorena Market to check any old slips. If someone is lucky enough to find the winning ticket they should sign the back and hand it in as soon as possible.
A statement released by lottery organisers said: “It’s time for anyone and everyone that purchases Lottery tickets in Southern California to start putting together clues, searching through their favourite hiding places, and checking all the numbers on any ticket they can find – after all, there’s nearly $200,000 on the line.”
The ticket holder has until 5pm on Monday, January 31 to present their ticket.
