Europe Goes Triple Rollover Crazy

Monday April 13th 2009

Europe is going triple rollover crazy because of a €58,000,000 (£52,000,000) EuroMillions jackpot that National Lottery players could win this Friday 17 April, 2009. EuroMillions is one of the biggest lotteries in the world, and boasts a minimum jackpot of €15,000,000, but three weeks without a winner have created an even bigger prize that players are queuing up to win.

Of course, for those who buy lottery tickets online, queuing isn’t necessary. Buying EuroMillions tickets online also makes it possible for players outside Europe to participate, and with €58,000,000 up for grabs, lottery players from all over the world are deciding that it makes sense to give it a shot.

EuroMillions requires players to select five main numbers from the range 1 to 50 and two supplementary Lucky Star numbers from the range 1 to 9. The odds of winning the jackpot with a single ticket are 1 in 76,275,360, but there are many other non-jackpot prizes to be won and the overall odds of winning are an excellent 1 in 24.

A triple rollover jackpot in January 2009 was won by a single player who scooped €57,199,762 (£50,993,587) by matching the five main numbers and two Lucky Star numbers. EuroMillions lottery players will be hoping that they are able to repeat that feat, and if someone manages to get the right lottery results they will immediately become one of the richest people in the world. If nobody wins then the jackpot will rollover once again to create an even bigger jackpot for the following draw.

If you think you’re due a bit of luck then playing EuroMillions this week will give you a chance to put the theory to the test. Who knows, if your hunch is right you could be celebrating a €58 million triple rollover jackpot win before the end of the week!
