EuroMillions winner decides to keep schtum
Wednesday December 15th 2010A British EuroMillions winner has opted to stay silent after finally coming forward to claim a prize worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. The lottery player bought a ticket for the EuroMillions Bonfire Night draw on November 5, but failed to come forward immediately. They were the only UK ticket holder to match all five of the main numbers plus one lucky star, winning £425,575.
According to lottery organisers, the person bought their lotto tickets at a shop on the Wirral, but left it four weeks before coming forward to claim the prize. The winner and their family are now sure to be preparing for a very merry Christmas, but apparently want to keep the good news to themselves.
A statement released by lottery organisers said unless the winner signs an agreement, no further information about their win can be released.
A lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win. It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-changing amount of money.”
The next EuroMillions draw will take place this Friday. It is a double rollover and the estimated prize fund stands at €36million.
