EuroMillions players get more chances to win big

Thursday March 24th 2011

EuroMillions lottery players will soon have another opportunity to scoop a fortune, following the announcement of a second weekly draw. From May, a new draw will be held every Tuesday. In addition, the game’s organisers have said the number of Lucky Stars in the game will increase, which is likely to result in more rollover draws and larger jackpot prizes.

Players will also have more chances to win with EuroMillions thanks to the introduction of a new prize tier. For matching just two main numbers, people will win around £3.

UK lottery spokesperson Dianne Thompson said: "These changes will make the game even more exciting for our players - with the mega-jackpot levels our EuroMillions players love, as well great chances to win smaller prizes more often."

Tickets for the first Tuesday game will go on sale on Saturday May 7, ahead of the draw on May 10. According to lottery organisers, the first game will have a mega-jackpot of £85million, although this will fall some way short of this Friday’s £117million top prize.

A considerable number of Brits are expected to play the lottery this week ahead of the EuroMillions draw, and if just one person were to win this week’s jackpot, it would be the largest amount ever paid out to a British winner.
