Dedicated California lottery player scoops jackpot
Wednesday January 19th 2011A 53-year-old lottery player from Orosi in California has received a cheque for $32million after winning Saturday’s SuperLotto Plus jackpot. Jim Kitauchi has regularly spent $40 a month on lottery tickets over the past 25 years, and his investment of about $12,000 has certainly paid off. But according to California lottery officials, the grape quality control inspector has no plans to move from the town he has lived in all his life. Instead, he will leave his current job and open a restoration shop for classic cars.
“I’m just going back to a normal routine”, he said.
However, like many big lottery winners, Mr Kitauchi may well find that ‘normal’ is a bit different once you become a multi-millionaire. If he decides to take a lump sum cash payment, Mr Kitauchi can expect to bank $19.1million.
Staff at the Kwik Korner Market where Mr Kitauchi decided to buy lotto tickets are also sure to be celebrating, as they will bank $160,000 for selling the slip with the winning numbers.
