CA Ticket Hits $421 Million Mega Millions Jackpot
Saturday January 29th 2022Someone in California is waking up millions of dollars better off this morning. January often sees a big Mega Millions win, and this year is no different, as the single ticket scored a huge payday on Friday night.
The estimated jackpot stood at an impressive $421 million ($289.5 million cash option) when it was hit.
The lucky ticket, sold in Woodland Hills, matched all six numbers drawn on Friday, January 28: white balls 3, 16, 25, 44 and 55, and the Mega Ball, 13.
The ticket was sold at the Chevron gas station in the 6000 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Woodland Hills, near Los Angeles.

Friday's draw also resulted in awesome Mega Millions prizes for lottery fans across the country, including four $1 million Match 5 second prize winners.
One of those tickets, purchased in Ohio, is actually worth $3 million because the Megaplier was added for an extra $1. The Megaplier drawn on January 28 was 3X, instantly tripling the ticket's value.
The other three $1 million tickets were bought in Mississippi, New York and Texas - so make sure to check your numbers in case you've become an overnight millionaire.
There were 30 winners at the game's third prize level, matching four of the white balls plus the gold Mega Ball. Six of those tickets included the Megaplier option and are worth $30,000 each, 3X their original value.
The other 24 third prize winners are each in line for a $10,000 payout - so check those numbers if you bought a ticket in one of these 19 states: California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Texas.
Friday's drawing resulted in a total of 1,167,183 winning tickets across all nine prize tiers, as well as the jackpot winner.
The jackpot was last won at $108 million in Arizona on October 22, 2021. The jackpot run lasted for 28 draws and produced over 16.2 million winners across all prize categories. That includes 39 Match 5 tickets worth $1 million or more.
