Bulgarian Lottery is under investigation
Friday September 18th 2009After the same six numbers were drawn in two consecutive draws, the Bulgarian Lottery is under investigation by the authorities. Although an official for the Bulgarian Lottery claim that manipulation is impossible, the odds of the same numbers coming up twice in a row is one in four million.
Bulgarian Lottery officials claim this to be nothing more than a coincidence, as although the numbers for the two consecutive weeks were the same, they were however drawn in a different order. The lottery numbers, 4, 15, 23, 24, 35 and 42 were drawn on both September 6th and September 11th draws, with three of the numbers also appearing in September 13th draw.
What has more than likely to have triggered the prompt investigation is that, while no one matched the winning numbers for the lottery draw that took place on 6th September, a massive 18 people matched all of the numbers for the 13th September draw.
Maria Yaneva, who is the Lottery Deputy Chairwoman for the Bulgarian Lottery pointed out that the draw took place live, in front a special lottery committee and dismissed the claims of fiddling.
The Minister of Physical Education and Sport, who is believed to have initiated the probe into the Bulgarian Lottery, claims that the commission established to investigate the draws, should be able to provide answers by the end of the week.
In the meantime, it is very probable that people who buy lottery tickets will be repeating numbers from previous draws in the Bulgarian Lottery for many weeks, whatever the outcome.
