Appeal for a MegaMillions winner
Saturday April 10th 2010The Virginia Lottery has sent out an appeal for a MegaMillions winner who is sitting on a ticket which is worth $250k. The winning ticket was purchased on 13th October in Chesterfield County and the lucky MegaMillions winner only has until Monday to claim before the ticket will expire. The winning numbers for this MegaMillions draw were, 13, 31, 34, 45, 51 and the Mega Ball was 24. If you are holding a ticket for this draw that you have not yet checked, then you may want to do this right away.
Whether it is the MegaMillions or any other lottery game, unclaimed prizes for amounts such are these are not as uncommon as we would think and many lottery players in the past have missed out on some fabulous wins because they have either lost their tickets or forgotten to check them and claim by the deadline. This is why it is probably a better idea to buy lottery tickets online as there is no chance of losing them and forgetting to check them and lottery players will be automatically informed of any win.
If this MegaMillions prize is not claimed by Monday it will go to the Virginia Lottery state Literacy Fund along with the other $190.1 million of unclaimed prize money which has been added since 1988. The Literacy Fund is used purely for educational purposed such as renovation and school construction. However, $190.1 million is quite a staggering sum of unclaimed lottery prize money when you consider the reasons that people choose to play lottery games.
