The winning ticket was sold at the Huron Plaza Party Store in Pontiac.

The winner will have the choice to receive the full $70 million as a yearly annuity payment or take the cash option of $49.78 million.

This is the second big U.S. lottery win in two days. On Tuesday night, a ticket sold in Edison, New Jersey won the $202 million Mega Millions jackpot - the first time it was won this year.

Wednesday was a good night for Michigan players. Two other tickets sold in the state won $50,000 each by matching four of the white balls plus the Powerball.

Powerball's second prize of $1 million was won by a ticket in Missouri. There were a total of 862,098 winners in Wednesday's draw.

Nine players are $50,000 better off after they matched four main numbers plus the Powerball. One of those added Power Play, which was 2X last night. That means the prize doubled and is actually worth $100,000.

Make sure to check your tickets to see if you've won a prize.

This is the second time the Powerball jackpot has been won in 2020. A ticket sold in Bonita Springs, Florida won $396.9 million in the January 29 draw. The winner has not come forward yet.

Michigan joined Powerball on January 31, 2010 and has had five jackpot winners.

Most recently, Phillip Chippewa of Suttons Bay won an $80 Powerball jackpot in the September 21, 2019 drawing. He opted for the cash option lump sum payment of $55.3 million, which was approximately $42 million after taxes.

In 2015, Three Rivers resident Julie Leach won a $310.5 million Powerball jackpot. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $197.4 million. After taxes, she took home about $140 million.

Lapeer man Donald Lawson won the $337 million Powerball top prize on August 15, 2012 - the largest jackpot ever won in the state. The 44-year-old opted for the cash lump sum of $224.6 million before taxes.

The jackpot resets to its starting level of $40 million (cash option $28.4 million) for the next draw on Saturday. Since the jackpot is below $150 million, the 10X Power Play may be drawn. Powerball tickets are available now.
