The ticket holder has not yet claimed the prize. The winner has 180 days from the June 1st drawing to collect the prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. This is the largest single ticket jackpot win in North Carolina and is the fifth time a North Carolina ticket has won a Powerball jackpot.

“It’s a lucky day to be in North Carolina,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We look forward to meeting the jackpot winner, but the most important thing for the winner to do today is sign the back of the ticket and secure it in a safe place. This is a life-changing event. The lucky winner should take some time and get sound professional advice before coming in to get the big check.”

The winner will be able to choose between an estimated $344.6 million paid as an annuity in 30 payments over 29 years, or a single lump sum payment of $223.3 million.

North Carolina had another substantial winning ticket in the Saturday draw. A $3 Power Play ticket purchased at the Charlotte Bistro at Charlotte Douglas International Airport won $100,000. The Power Play was 2X.

There were a total of 1,137,304 winners in the June 1st Powerball drawing. In addition to the jackpot, there were other exciting wins including six Match 4 plus Powerball (with Power Play) $100,000 winners and 23 Match 4 plus Powerball $50,000 winners.
