The lucky winner, who has now won the fourth largest Powerball jackpot ever, has been named as Pedro Quezada. This winner emigrated to the US from the Dominican Republic 26 years ago and set up a grocery shop in Passaic, New Jersey. He works 18 hour shifts running his business so this Powerball jackpot win couldn’t have come at a better time for him.

When players win the Powerball jackpot they have the option to either receive their winnings via an annuity pay out over a number of years or they can opt to receive it in one lump sum. Pedro Quezada has opted to receive his winnings via a lump sum which means that he will take home just over $211 million. After this win Pedro Quezada doesn’t plan on going back to working such long days at the family store and his son believes he’s going to do something good with the money.

The Powerball jackpot now resets and goes back to basics after this win so it is now estimated at $40 million for tonight’s draw.
