$2m win for Florida Lottery player
Tuesday February 8th 2011A lottery player from Miami has won a $2million jackpot on the state’s Mega Money game. Shane Bissessar visited the Winn-Dixie grocery store on South Dixie Highway in Miami to buy lottery tickets for the January 25 draw. Little did the 34-year-old know he was making a life-changing decision by playing his Mega Money game numbers that night.
The state lottery game starts with a $500,000 jackpot, which rolls over each week up to a limit of $2million. If no one manages to pick the main four numbers and the megaball when the jackpot reaches its limit then the money is shared among the winners of smaller prizes.
Luckily for Mr Bissessar, his lottery numbers came up when there was the maximum amount of cash in the prize fund. After validating his ticket, he told Florida Lottery officials he would take the cash in one lump sum payment totalling $1,432,181.
And Mr Bissessar was not the only winner that night. The Winn-Dixie store will receive $1,000 for selling a winning ticket, while $2.6million will be put into the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The next Mega Money draw is due to take place tonight (8). The estimated jackpot currently stands at $500,000.
