$286 Million Powerball Win Claimed in Florida
Monday June 28th 2021A $286 million Powerball prize hit on Florida's First Coast in June has been claimed by the Love You More Trust, represented by Clay Tousey of Ponte Vedra Beach. No doubt fun in the sun is on the cards for the lucky winner.
Tousey, 69, acts as trustee and claimed the jackpot on behalf of Love You More. The identity of the winner is unknown. The trust opted for a cash option lum sum payout of $196,706,252.
The single winning ticket was sold at the Circle K gas station at 721 S. Chaffee Road in Jacksonville, and the retailer will be paid a $100,000 bonus commission.
The lucky Quick Pick play matched all six winning Powerball numbers in the Saturday, June 5, 2021 drawing: white balls 44, 52, 54, 64 and 69 and the red Powerball 26.
Technically, Florida law doesn't allow lottery winners to stay anonymous, and the FL Lottery must provide the winner's name and city of residence if asked.
Forming a trust is a popular way for winners to protect their privacy and is allowed in the state. The winning ticket is transferred to the trust and a trustee or attorney comes forward to claim the prize on the trust's behalf. This option allows the winner to shield their identity and privacy.
