Thursday February 10th 2011

Powerball lottery organisers have confirmed that the winner of a $122million jackpot has finally come forward to claim their prize. It has now been three weeks since a single ticket holder correctly picked the numbers for the January 22 draw. According to an article by The Daily Mail newspaper, which is based in Catskill where the winning ticket was bought, the player has now presented their ticket to lottery organisers.

But the identity of the winner will not be revealed until the lottery ticket has been properly authenticated.

What is known is that the ticket was bought at the Clothespin Laundromat in Catskill and owner Bhasu Patal believes he knows who has won. FOX23 News has reported that Mr Patal believes the lucky winner is one of his regular customers who “religiously” comes in to buy lottery tickets. However, the customer has not been seen since the huge lottery jackpot was won.

Mr Patal also has reason to celebrate, as he will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
