$1.6 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot Won in Florida
Wednesday August 9th 2023The largest Mega Millions jackpot was won last night in Florida. The jackpot had not been won since April 18.
The winning numbers for the Tuesday draw were: 13, 19, 20, 32, 33 and the Mega Ball was 14. The Megaplier number was 2x. This is the fourth time a jackpot was won in Florida.
At the moment, there are no further details about the lucky winner or winners and we will update this page once more information is available. What we know so far is that the winning ticket was sold in Florida at a Publix in Neptune Beach.
There were over 7 million winners last night, so make sure to check your tickets as you might be one of them as well. Five players matched five numbers without the Mega Ball and will each take home $1 million. The tickets were bought in California, Pennsylvania, Texas (two) and West Virginia. But they were not the only lucky ones—two other players matched five numbers with Megaplier and won $2 million. They bought their tickets from Florida and North Carolina.
What happens after the jackpot is won?
According to state lottery rules, the ticket holder(s) will have 180 days to claim their prize. After that, they will need to make an important decision. They will need to decide whether they want to take their prize as a cash lump sum worth $794.2 million or as annuity payments over the next 30 years. Given that the jackpot has now been won, it will reset to its base level of $20 million, with a cash lump sum of $9.9 million for the next drawing on Friday, August 11.
Don’t forget that the Powerball jackpot is also awaiting a winner, as it’s been rolling over since July 19. Now worth $194 million, it could be yours.
