Wednesday June 5th 2019The retailer who sold the $344 million Powerball jackpot-winning ticket for the Saturday, June 1st drawing was Carlie C’s IGA grocery store in Hope Mills, North Carolina.
The ticket holder has not yet claimed the prize. The winner has 180 days from the June 1st drawing to collect the prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. This is the largest single ticket jackpot win in North Carolina and is the fifth time a North Carolina ticket has won a Powerball jackpot.
“It’s a lucky day to be in North Carolina,” said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We look forward to meeting the jackpot winner, but the most important thing for the winner to do today is sign the back of the ticket and secure it in a safe place. This is a life-changing event. The lucky winner should take some time and get sound professional advice before coming in to get the big check.”
The winner will be able to choose between an estimated $344.6 million paid as an annuity in 30 payments over 29 years, or a single lump sum payment of $223.3 million.
