$25m win for Florida lotto player
Friday March 11th 2011A woman from Palm Bay, Florida, who recently spent almost two years out of work, can now look forward to a taste of the good life after winning $25million on the lottery. Every week for around 20 years, Elizabeth Manzini has gone to her local shop to play the lotto with the same numbers. And last Saturday, that routine finally paid off.
After waking up on Sunday morning the 45-year-old immediately checked the Florida Lotto numbers from the night before and discovered she’d matched every single one.
“I was blessed with winning the Florida Lottery,” she said. “I was ecstatic”.
Ms Manzini went to validate her ticket and opted to accept a one-off lump sum payment of $14.2million. The owners of the gas station where the winning ticket was bought are also celebrating, as they will be paid a $65,000 sellers’ bonus.
Asked what she plans to do with her new-found wealth, Ms Manzini said: "I guess I’ll do what anyone else would if they’d won all this money. I’m going to pay things off and help out family and friends. Hopefully, if it is invested well then I’ll live off the interest."
While Ms Manzini doesn’t plan to give up her new job, she told lottery officials that she would like travel.
