Wyoming Lottery Set to Welcome Lucky for Life
Wednesday March 23rd 2016The Wyoming Lottery Corporation’s CEO Jon Clontz has predicted that a planned new lottery game will give the state a major boost. Proposals to add the multi-state Lucky for Life game were approved at a meeting of the board of directors last week, and it is thought that tickets could start being sold as early as October or November.

Wyoming has offered Powerball and Mega Millions since 2014, and rolled out the in-state Cowboy Draw game last year, but lottery officials still felt there was room for another lottery which would put up some fantastic prizes without damaging sales for their existing drawings.
Lucky for Life was identified as the ideal option, as the odds of winning a prize are better than either Powerball or Mega Millions, while tickets are $3 cheaper than those for Cowboy Draw at $2 each.
Clontz is very much looking forward to the arrival of the new game, saying in the Billings Gazette: “We're always thinking about, within the confines of draw games, what kind of things can we put out there that won't cannibalize and will have more interesting, exciting jackpot prizes and so on. So this is a game we think will do that, and we are pretty confident it will produce, or we wouldn't be recommending it."
Lucky for Life players have to pick five main numbers between 1 and 48 and a further Lucky Ball number between 1 and 18. Rather than winning a rolling jackpot, winners of the top prize who match all their numbers can choose to receive either $1,000 a day for life or a cash option of $5.75 million, while players matching just the five main white balls receive $25,000 for life or a one-off payment of $390,000.
The game is currently played in 19 states, as well as the District of Columbia, but is becoming increasingly popular and it is understood that Colorado could also start to offer Lucky for Life this year. It is certainly expected to be a success in Wyoming, with WyoLotto set to be able to boost its payments to towns and counties by about $100,000 a quarter.
