Valentines Day Superdraw
Monday February 16th 2009A Valentine’s Day Superdraw in Australia was shared by 16 lottery winners on Saturday 14 February, 2009. The West Australian Lotto say that one of the lucky winners has come forward to claim his prize of $875,000.
Lottery games in Australia don’t often make headlines in the rest of the world, but when 16 players all select the right numbers to share any Superdraw prize it’s hard not to notice.
Those of you who aren’t familiar with Australia’s Saturday Lotto game will be interested to know that it’s a 6 from 45 game and that all participants have to buy a minimum of four lines. When the draw takes place, six main numbers are drawn followed by two supplementary numbers.
To win the jackpot (known as the Division One prize), players have to match all six main numbers. The lottery odds of them doing this are 1 in 8,145,060. Generally speaking there are just one or two winners, but the Valentine’s Day Superdraw was lucky for quite a few more, so the prize was split sixteen ways.
The winning lottery results in Australia on Saturday 14 February, 2009, were 5, 6, 20, 23, 24, 26 and the two supplementary numbers were 28 and 29.
