Unclaimed $63 Million California SuperLotto Plus Prize Set to Expire

Wednesday February 3rd 2016

The winner of an unclaimed California SuperLotto Plus prize worth $63 million has until 5:00 PM on Thursday February 4th to contact lottery officials or they will miss out on a life-changing fortune. The eight-figure windfall was won in the August 8th drawing, but the 180-day window for claims is about to slam shut if the unwitting millionaire, who bought their ticket at a 7-Eleven in Chatsworth in the north west of Los Angeles, fails to show up at a lottery office with the winning ticket.

The winning numbers from the draw were 1, 16, 30, 33 and 46 with Mega Ball 24 and the jackpot had been rolling for six months before the enigmatic player correctly matched the entire line. Lottery fans in the San Fernando Valley will be turning out their kitchen drawers, rooting through the glove boxes of their cars and checking their cookie jars to see if they can find the golden slip which would be the passport to riches beyond their wildest dreams.

The California Lottery confirmed there had been no news from the winner, with a spokesman admitting the chances of finding them were now slim. If they were to appear, and the Van Nuys California Lottery district office is less than 20 minutes drive from the store at which the entry was bought, the ticket holder would be able to choose between pre-tax lump sum of $39.9 million or the full $63 million in an annuity spread over 30 years. Should they miss the deadline, the entire amount will be transferred to the lottery’s fund to support the public school system in California.

The $63 million award could become the largest unclaimed prize in California Lottery history if the ticket expires this week, beating the $28.5 million that a forgetful player from San Lorenzo missed out on in 2003. In addition, the identity of the winner of a third of the record $1.58 billion Powerball jackpot from January 13th, who bought their ticket in Chino Hills, Los Angeles, still remains a mystery nearly a month after the drawing, but this winner does have a year to stake their claim.

Make sure you check your California SuperLotto Plus numbers on this site soon after the drawing takes place so you don’t miss out on a multimillion-dollar prize!
