Third time extra lucky for California Lottery player

A man who twice won $5,000 prizes on the California Lottery in the 1990s completed an impressive hat trick of wins on Tuesday, when he scooped over half a million dollars. David Williams Jr, of Orangeville, California, managed to match five of the six main numbers in the Mega Millions draw on January 18. He correctly selected the numbers 4, 27, 29, 38 and 45 to net an impressive $581,319.

 

The father of two decided to buy lotto tickets at the Greenback Shell gas station in Orangeville, where staff are now also celebrating. The business will get a one per cent commission for selling the winning ticket. 

Speaking to lottery organisers, Mr Williams said he wasn’t sure how he’ll spend all the money, although he has already ordered a new family car.

No one managed to pick all six Mega Millions numbers on Tuesday, so tonight’s estimated jackpot stands at $51million, which equates to a cash equivalent of $32million.
