Texas Lottery Players First in Line for Powerball and Mega Millions Receipt Tickets
Thursday July 23rd 2020Texas Lottery players are the first in the country to experience a new way to purchase Powerball and Mega Millions with Receipt Tickets.
Texas is the first lottery nationwide to launch the convenient new tickets, which are printed by cash registers at H-E-B stores.
Receipt Tickets are now sold in-line at the register at all H-E-B Business Centers, and will be rolled out to other locations soon. Find your nearest H-E-B Business Center.
Receipt Tickets are official Texas Lottery tickets. They are Quick Pick only, with a random number selection and lottery barcode printed by the cash register. The plays are good for the next available drawing.
However, the Powerball Power Play and Mega Millions Megaplier add-on multipliers are not an option on the new tickets for the time being.
Receipt Tickets also have a different appearance compared to a traditional lottery ticket. “These tickets look different than any other that the Texas Lottery has ever produced, as they are the first lottery tickets ever printed on cash register receipt paper rather than on lottery roll stock by a dedicated lottery terminal," explained Gary Grief, Executive Director of the Texas Lottery.
"Players will notice a lottery barcode at the bottom of the ticket, which may be scanned using the Texas Lottery App to check the winning status," Grief said. “Texas continues to break ground with ‘in-lane’ lottery solutions that provide our players direct access to the games they love in the most convenient ways possible.”
H-E-B stores were already home to Texas Lottery vending machines for ticket purchases. Players can also check their tickets there to see if they've won a prize.
Receipt Tickets are the culmination of over a year of collaboration between the Texas Lottery, development partner IGT, and long-standing lottery retailer H-E-B to meet the challenge of seamlessly incorporating lottery products into the store's sales system.

This solution simplifies the sale of lottery products forthe retailer and makes lottery products more convenient and accessible for players. We expect the execution of the in-lane solution for the Texas Lottery and H-E-B to set a standard upon which other retailers and lotteries will seek to adopt.”
How to claim Receipt Ticket prizes
To check if your Receipt Ticket has won a prize, scan the barcode on the bottom of the ticket:
- On the Texas Lottery App
- At a Lottery vending machine or Check-a-Ticket
- At an H-E-B Business Center or other Lottery retailer, who can pay out wins of $599 and below
Winning Receipt Tickets worth $600 and above must be redeemed at a Texas Lottery Claim Center by appointment only. Walk-in claims are not accepted at this time.

$1 million Texas Powerball prize expires today
Quick, check behind the couch and under the bed! A winning Texas Powerball ticket worth $1 million is due to expire today, Thursday, July 23, at 5:00 pm Mountain Daylight Time.
The Quick Pick ticket was sold at Big Savers Market, 3630 Alameda Ave. (Suite B) in El Paso.
The lucky ticket matched the five white ball numbers in the January 25, 2020 draw - 2-9-17-36-67 - only missing the red Powerball, 18.
“We encourage our Powerball players to take another look at their tickets, check the numbers again and if your numbers match, sign the back of the ticket and contact us to request an appointment to claim your prize,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.

The winner may redeem the prize by making an appointment at a Texas Lottery Claim Center as explained above.
There is also the option to claim by mail. Sign the back of the winning ticket and send it along with a completed claim form to the Lottery at the address below. Ensure it is postmarked before the expiration, and use a form of mail with tracking, such as registered or certified.

Texas Lottery winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim a prize. The claim period may be extended for eligible members of the military. Unclaimed prize money is contributed to programs authorized by the Texas Legislature.
