Six Month Drought Ends with Two Wins in a Week for New Jersey Lotto
Wednesday June 25th 2014Following a six month jackpot dry spell, New Jersey’s Pick 6 Lotto is back with a bang after two top tier wins in a week. The jackpot drought finally came to an end on Monday June 16 when one lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers and broke the staggering 52 draw run without a big winner.
The jackpot winning ticket, which was purchased at a 7-Eleven store on Lacey Road in the Forked River area of Ocean County, secured its owner the entire $20.1 million top prize. The jackpot is the largest seen by Lotto Pick 6 players since June 25 2012, when one ticket sold in Holmdel scooped a colossal $21.5 million.
Last Monday’s lucky winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize despite lottery winners in New Jersey having a relatively short claims period of just 60 days. Although the ticket will not expire until August 15, officials are keen to identify the winner and unite them with their prize. Did you purchase a Pick 6 ticket in Ocean County? If so, you could be the missing jackpot winner if your numbers for the draw were 3, 12, 18, 34, 35 and 42.
This long anticipated top tier win was closely followed by another just one week later on Monday June 23. This time the jackpot was worth a much smaller, but still life-changing, $2.1 million. The most recent winner purchased their ticket in Essex County, at White Oak Liquors in Belleville and matched the numbers 5, 6, 12, 25, 38 and 45.
While neither winner has contacted officials as of yet, Executive Director of New Jersey Lottery, Carole Hedinger said she was looking forward to meeting both winners and added that it was always a thrill to see people’s dreams come true.
