Veola Thomas of Richmond had purchased a $250,000 Jackpot Doubler scratchcard at the Kroger on West Cary Street and scratched off the coating while she helped her son with some homework. Unsure if she had uncovered a winning combination, she turned to her phone for help. “Maybe Siri knows,” she said when she told her story to lottery officials. As it turned out, Siri helped Thomas find her way to the Virginia Lottery site, where she discovered that she was indeed $250,000 richer!

Thomas plans to use the money to set up a college fund for her young son as well as pay some bills. She described her experience of winning the huge lottery prize as “mighty good”. As Thomas claimed the last top prize on $250,000 Jackpot Doubler, the game has now come to a close. Anyone with a winning scratchcard for the game will have 180 days from Tuesday, November 17th to claim prizes ranging from $5 to $10,000.

Virginia Lottery scratchcards are sold at a number of authorized retailers throughout the state and cost anywhere from $1 to $20. Several draw games are also offered in the Old Dominion, including Mega Millions, Powerball, Cash4Life and Bank a Million. Find out more at the Virginia Lottery page and see if there’s a game that’s perfect for you. Just don’t forget to ask Siri about the latest lottery results to see if you’ve won!
