Powerball Ticket Holder Claims $399.4 Million Win
Wednesday September 25th 2013Last week’s huge $399.4 million Powerball winner has come forward to claim their life-changing prize. The lucky ticket holder contacted South Carolina Lottery officials on Monday September 23 to confirm the win but asked to remain anonymous.
The winning ticket in question was purchased at the Murphy Express Gas Station, Lexington, South Carolina and matched the five main numbers and the Powerball drawn on Wednesday September 18. The winner, who lives in the Columbia area, only purchased the Powerball ticket after stopping at the gas station to buy hot dog buns.
The gas station doesn’t sell hot dog buns but while the man was there he saw an advert for the Powerball and, having only played the lottery once before, decided to purchase 10 Quick Pick tickets. He was home alone when he discovered he had won the $399.4 million jackpot, the fourth largest in Powerball history, and danced around the kitchen and shared the news with his dog.
The Murphy Express will also be celebrating as they will now receive a $50,000 check for selling the winning ticket.
Lottery.net would like congratulate this lucky Powerball winner and wish him and his family all the best for the future.

The Mega Millions jackpot rolled over for the 17th time last night giving players the chance to win $173 million in Friday’s draw. The draw saw over 627,000 players win a prize, including five ticket holders who matched the five main numbers. As one of the five winners purchased their ticket in California, they won $713,203 as prizes in the Golden state are paid on a pari-mutuel basis, which means they are determined by ticket sales and the number of winners in the prize tier rather than the fixed amount applicable in all other participating states. The other four winning ticket holders each won $250,000. To view the latest Mega Millions winning numbers, click here.
